Working with Avid
The only Avid native camcorder since 1994.
Editcam is the only Avid native camcorder from its first generation in 1994. Your Avid editor is also an Editcam-ready non-linear editing system.
In the import menu dialog box, you will find ‘CamCutter’ in file types. That is the Editcam native file format.
After shooting with Editcam, eject FieldPak from Editcam as common video casette. The FieldPak can be mounted as an external hard drive with FieldPak adapters such as SAT-110 on both PC and Mac.
Just import ‘CLIPS.BIN’ file in the BIN folder of FieldPak, all the footage is displayed in Avid’s bin window. CLIPS.BIN is a kind of database file describing the relationship of media.
All the footage is ready to edit directly from FieldPak. No need to transfer or rewrap the media for editing.
If the Avid editor is a client of Avid Unity MediaNet, FieldPak clips can be transfered to shared storage at 6 times faster(maximum) than realtime(DV25). You can transfer the clips that are used in a sequence as well as all clips in FieldPak.
Of course, all the metadata recorded by Editcam remains with the clip even after
transfered to servers. Finding clips is easy, even in the largest of databases by searching metadata.
